Cam - and - tappet actuated pumps; stroke, varying; regulating delivery by opening byepasses.-In a fuel pump the quantity delivered is regulated in part bv means of an adjustable stop 29 which controls the suction stroke of a plunger 17, and in part by means of a bye-pass valve 23 which is opened directly by the plunger near the end of the delivery stroke. The plunger may be actuated by a cam 2 and tappet 6. Fuel enters the pump barrel through a suction pipe 24, passage 25, and valve 18, and is delivered through the valve 19.
