Abstract
299,218. Mavor & Coulson, Ltd., and Thomson, J. Dec. 6, 1927. Casings, feet, and sectional framework for endless-belt conveyers; guards and shields to prevent falling-off and spilling.-A shelter for the lower run of a belt conveyer comprises longitudinal members C. C each of which has a roofing part 6 and walls 7 which extend downwardly to below the lower run of the belt and close to the floor of the working. The junctions 8 of the roofing and walls are shaped to deflect coal towards the sides, and are so located that' their middle portions lie vertically below the edge of the top run of the belt. The space between adjacent members C, C<1> is filled by a transverse member E, Fig. 2, having a sloping roof 9, Fig. 1, and pins 11 for engaging holes in the members C, C<1>. The longitudinal and transverse members are supported by pedestals D provided with bearings for carrying the rollers on which travel the top and lower runs of the belt. Side fences 5 may be attached to the pedestals by pin-and-hole connections. In a modification the transverse member is dispensed with, and the adjacent ends of the members C, C<1> may overlap and be connected by pin-and-hole connections.
