Abstract

Yarns, warping and beaming.-In an improvement of the devices described in Specification 214,925 for controlling the friction driving devices for use in the beaming operations in sizing machines &c., the forked pressure lever w for controlling the friction discs x carries a bowl &c v acted upon by a curved member u rigidly connected to the movable pivot t of a weight lever s. This pivot is carried by one end of a lever o, the opposite end of which is acted upon by a catch p pivoted on a square rod m connected by lever mechanism &c. to the presser shaft d, so that as the beam fills the rod m is lowered, the lever o turned, and the parts t, u, s raised to change the leverage with which the member u acts and thus vary the pressure transmitted to the friction discs. A peg or stop q adjustably secured to the frame limits the downward movement of the lever o under the catch p by tripping the latter and turning it on its pivot A safety catch comprising a curved rack 1 pivoted at 2 to the lever o may be moved into engagement with a toothed part 3 to hold the pressure device at any position reached and thus maintaining the pressure at the friction discs constant during a period, for example, whilst the machine is stopped. The lever s may be moved over to the left for doffing a full beam &c., a projection t<1> striking a part 4 of the rack 1 and releasing this from the part 3.
