Abstract

298,089. Soc. of Chemical Industry in Basle. Sept. 30, 1927, [Convention date]. Addition to 265,567. Medicines for internal use. - the process according to the parent Specification, for obtaining active substances from extracts of female organs by treatment with a saponifying agent with exclusion of oxygen, is applied to the treatment of extracts of male organs such as testicles, or of distillates from such extracts. According to an example material obtained by extracting dried powdered testicles with benzene or other water-insoluble solvent and then evaporating the solvent, is dissolved in alcohol and, whilst maintained in an atmosphere of hydrogen, alcoholic potash is added. Excess of potash is neutralized by introducing carbon dioxide, the alcohol is distilled off in a vacuum, the residue is extracted with acetone and the acetone evaporated.
