297,778. Sondermann & Co. Sept. 27, 1927, [Convention date]. Right to Patent relinquished. Artificial silk threads; threads having fibres united by adhesive; spinning processes; yarns, threads, &c., treating with liquids.-The threads of artificial silk which have been collected in the untwisted condition on bobbins, are during re-winding subjected to a. pasting or sizing treatment, without twisting, in order to render the threads capable of withstanding the further operations to which the threads are subjected. The sizing of the threads may take place before the silk is completely finished, for example before bleaching; and in the case of viscose silk, before desulphurizing, the bleaching and desulphurizing being carried out on the woven or knitted material, preferably at the same time as the latter is desized. For the sizing operation, the threads f are drawn from a. bobbin frame a, passed over a sizing roller s, then through a drying device such as a heated plate c, and finally collected on winding rollers d; the threads are tensioned by rollers r, w, and they are kept separate by means of saddles k; and it is convenient to withdraw the threads from the upper row of bobbins a through guide-eyes opposite the centres of the bobbins, and the threads from the lower row through guide-eyes mounted above the bobbins.
