Abstract

297,121. Faure, E. Sept. 15, 1927, [Convention date]. Hydraulic means. - A multiple - pipe hydraulic ram comprises two members 1, 2 which, when joined together, form pipes 3 preferably of spiral shape as seen in Fig. 2. The inner ends of the pipes open into conduits 4 controlled by a rotary valve 6 which alternately connects each pipe in turn to the low pressure chamber 11 and the high pressure chamber 9. The feed liquid enters the pipes through a port 20, and the high pressure liquid leaves the casing 12 by a port 22. The pipes are separated from the low and high pressure chambers by spring plates 16, 18, provided with packing members 17, 19. The plates may be omitted if the members 1, 2 are elastic enough to form water tight joints with the casing 12. In another form, the feed port and low pressure chamber open into the suction side of a centrifugal pump which delivers to the pipes 3, the pump rotor being on the same shaft as the valve 6.
