Abstract

296,838. Dicker, S. G. S., (Naamlooze Vennootschap Philips' Gloeilampenfabrieken), June 22, 1927. Arc apparatus, arrangement of. - A D.C. load is supplied from an A.C. source through a plurality of gasfilled incandescentcathode rectifiers connected in parallel so that in the event of failure of the one which normally operates owing to its starting voltage being lowest, one of the others, not normally operating owing to requiring a higher starting voltage, is automatically caused to operate. The arrangement shown comprises two such rectifiers 1, 2 each having two anodes associated with opposite halves 3, 4 of a transformer secondary so as to utilize both halves of the A.C. wave in the load circuit 6 which' is connected in series with a resistance 5.
