295,942. I. C. Farbenindustrie Akt.- Ges. Aug. 19, 1927, [Convention date]. Cellulose ester and ether solutions, and processes for making filaments and films therefrom. -Solutions of cellulose esters (other than nitrocellulose) and cellulose ethers to be used in the manufacture of solid products, such as films or fibres, are made with a solvent in which carbon disulphide is the main constituent; other solvents may be present and other usual additions may be made. In one example, a benzenesoluble triethyl cellulose is dissolved in a mixture of carbon disulphide and benzene; the solution is turbid but yields clear strong films. In another example, a mixture of carbon disulphide and acetone is used as solvent.
