Abstract
295,417. Davies, A. May 5, 1927. Magnetic separators.-In a magnetic separator of the kind in which the material is fed by a conveyer between a rotating upper magnet and a lower fixed one, a preliminary separation is produced by one or more supplementary magnets which are energized by flux leakage from the main magnets. 'The supplementary magnets 6 in the form of concentric rings and separated by distance pieces 7 are secured to the head 8 carrying the upper magnets 1, 2, 3 which rotate over shaking feed trays 5 and the caps 15 of pole pieces 13 which are provided with individual windings 14. The separted materials collected by the rings 1, 2, 3 are discharged into troughs which are arranged concentrically with regard to each other in the spaces between the trays 5 and outside the magnetic influence of the poles 13. The residue left on the conveyer is also discharged into a shoot. The points 4 of the rings 1, 2 and 3 may be constructed as described in Specifications 105,354 or 277,210.
