Chucks.-In chuck-operating mechanism comprising levers c mounted on the operating spindle m and actuated to displace axially a tubular member a arranged within the spindle, so as to cause jaws a<1> to grip the work, by means of a sliding sleeve g having a bevelled face f and an adjoining cylindrical face adapted to engage the ends e of the levers, the face f is formed as one side of an annular recess i in the sleeve g, which recess is adapted to contain oil for lubricating the parts. The upper and lower parts of the Figure show the mechanism in operative and inoperative positions respectively.
