294,937. Superior Hat Co., (Assignees of Wittcoff, E.). Aug. 1, 1927, [Convention date]. Straw and like hats; accessories; chin-straps.- A sun-protective hat has a wide brim comprising an opaque section 1 and a transparent section 3 secured together on a transverse line extending from one margin of the brim to the other margin. The crown and the part 1 of the brim are of straw or woven fibrous material, and the part 3 is of celluloid or the like which may be tinted green. A detachable visor 6, of the same material as the part 3, normally protects the back of the neck, but the hat may be worn back to front, e.g. when the sun is low. A chin strap 12 has an adjusting slide 13, and passes through eyelets 15 near the crown, over the brim, through eyelets 16 to the under side of the brim and to knotted ends adjacent to the eyelets 15. The brim may be given a curl by means of the chin strap.
