Abstract
293,494. Carpmael, W., (I. G. Farbenindustrie Akt.-Ges.). April 12, 1927. Chromium oxide is prepared by heating above 110‹ C. an aqueous solution of an alkali metal salt of chromic acid with an organic reducing agent, e.g. molasses. A pressure above atmospheric is used, and the precipitated hydroxide is washed, dried and ignited. Waste liquors of sulphite cellulose manufacture, saw dust, or brown coal dust may also be used as reducing agents.
