Abstract

292,628. Molins, W. E. Dec. 24, 1926. Packeting by wrapping-up.-In a machine for wrapping a block-shaped article or a block-shaped batch of articles in an outer covering of transparent material and inserting a card or coupon between the article and the outer covering, means is provided for ensuring that the card &c. is deposited beneath the article or batch of articles, and a pusher-piece moves the card &c. and the article or batch of articles through the wrapping mechanism. A card &c. is fed by suction from a pile 13 between continuously moving belts 14, 15 adapted to deposit it beneath a stack of packages 1 behind a package which is being thrust from the stack by a pusher 4 on an endless conveyer 3. The lowest package remaining in the stack then drops on to the card and the two are moved simultaneously along the bed of the machine to bring the package and card into contact with a strip of wrapping material disposed above and below them and to move the package, card, and wrapper through folding mechanism which forms the wrapper into a U-shaped block ended container. In a modification, the card is deposited on the conveyer and fed by the pusher beneath the stack, the package being supported by a pair of flanges which allow the card free movement beneath them. According to the Provisional Specification, the card may be fed on top of the article or batch of articles. Specification 165,891 is referred to.
