Abstract

Framcwork.-In fuselages and like tubular framework comprising one or more bracing members 2 the ends of which abut against an intermediate portion of a longeron 1, the joint is made by means of a clamping plate 3 or a pair of clamping plates bolted or riveted to the bracing members and bolted to the longeron. The head of the bolt 6 through the longeron is formed as a ball or socket to cooperate with the end of a transverse bracing member 11. The clamping plates may be flat instead of curved as shown at 3<a>. Instead of a pair of plates, a U-shaped plate astride the longeron may be used. The bracing members may be expanded at their ends or flattened to an oval section to make their effective diameter equal to that of the longeron. Where this is not done, the clamping plates are shaped as shown in Fig. 8 and a distance piece 14 is provided. The ends of the bracing members may be cut to conform to the shape of the longeron or to a V-shape. The wiring plates are held by the head of the bolt 6.
