Abstract
292,126. Ramsdell, T. S. June 14, 1927, [Convention date]. Stop-gear. - Stop-gear, adapted on overload to shut off power, is engaged and actuated by a pawl or equivalent, which is carried by one member of a shaft coupling and is moved outwardly by the other member when the torque overcomes a torsion spring. Coupling members E, D, Figs. 2 and 3, mounted respectively on the driving and driven shafts A, B, have loosely-interengaging claws e, d, the claws e carrying spring-pressed pins F in contact with the claws d., on movement whereof they are projected beyond the circumference to engage a lever G of the stop-gear or, in a modification, a sliding shoe adapted to close an electric switch (Fig. 7, not shown). Pins H<1>, Fig. 5, may alternatively be projected radially by the bevelled ends of pins H, or the sliding pins may be replaced by bent levers (Fig. 6, not shown), the inner ends of which are spring-pressed against the claws d. The ends of the single or double torsion spring C, C' are received in recesses in the member D and a flange a<1> on the shaft A. which may have flats Q to enable it to be turned to adjust the initial spring stress, the sucuring- key 0 for the member E being engageable in one of a number of spaced keyways.
