Jackets and covers; air tubes and chambers; non- metallic elastic bodies and cores. - A pneumatic tyre cover comprises a tread portion 1 and a rim-seating portion 2, both of substantially semi-circular crosssection, with beaded edges 8, 7 respectively which are detachably clamped together by channel rings 10 and screws 14 engaging metal ferrules 12 embedded in wedge-rings 12 fitted; between the beads 7, 8. The rings 11 may be formed of rubber, rubbered canvas, or rubber-covered metal. In the construction shown in Fig. 1, the portion 2 of the cover is formed in one piece, and an ordinary air-tube 17, which may be reinforced opposite the rings 10, is used. To prevent complete collapse of the tyre on deflation, a sponge-rubber core 18 mav be fitted between the tube 17 and rim 5. In the modification shown in. Fig. 2, the rim-seating portion of the cover is formed in two parts 21, 22, and an emergency tube 23 fitted within a small cover 25 is arranged between the main tube 17 and the rim. The valve for the main tube may be arranged to pass through one of the rings 10; and the auxiliary tube 23 may be inflated to a higher pressure than that used in the main tube.
