Abstract
290,786. Platt Bros. &. Co., Ltd., and Wolstencroft, A. E. March 24, 1927. Rollers.-Sectional fluted or other rollers for feeding, delivering, or conveying fibrous material or for delivering yarn in machines for drawing or combing fibrous material or for spinning, doubling, or twisting yarn, and like sectional rollers, are coupled to each other or to a driving part at the end, middle, or elsewhere in the length of a line of rollers by means of a coupling-section a, which, before being shaped externally, is formed with a longitudinal hole h of squared or non-circular sectional form to receive correspondingly shaped spigots i on the adjacent sections or parts b. The coupling-section a is turned or otherwise shaped externally upon a mandrel adapted to fit the hole h, and, conveniently, the connected and the coupling sections are assembled and mounted together in the machine in which the fluting or grooving is effected in order to ensure uniformity. The spigots may be formed with ribs m, Fig. 4, and with intervening circular parts n, and may have plane circular portions corresponding in diameter to the parts n at one or both ends.
