Abstract

290,718. Dunn, W. Feb. 16, 1927. Manure, seed, and like distributers. - In a machine for distributing seeds, manure, &c. the material is received from a hopper and discharged by a wheel mounted on a rotary shaft and provided with transverse peripheral grooves forming compartments adapted to move past the outlet from the hopper, the compartments at one end being closed by a member having projections of similar cross-section to the grooves, and screw and nut mechanism being provided to move the shaft axially to vary the capacity of the compartments. The projections extend from the inner periphery of a ring 4 rotatably but not slidably mounted in a casing 1 provided with a feed hopper 2 and an outlet 3. The outer ends of the grooves 7 in the wheel 6 are closed by a flanged plate 8 fixed on the shaft 11 carrying the wheel 6. The shaft 11 is driven by a sprocket wheel 13 and is adjustable axially through the sprocket wheel 13 and a bearing 12 by means of a spring 16 and a nut 15 screwed on its end. The ring 4 may be arranged to move axially instead of the wheel 6.
