Abstract

290,705. Burr, H. R. F., and Giveen, F. W. Feb. 24, 1927. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Average speed, measuring directly.-A device for indicating average speed is combined with a clock and a speedometer by which it is operated, and means are provided for resetting the averaging mechanism without affecting the clock of the speedometer. A clock-driven screw 9 traverses a nut 11 having a slotted arm 13, and a screw 10 at right-angles, driven from the driving shaft of the speedometer, traverses a nut 12 having a slotted arm 14. A body 5 engages both slotted arms at their point of intersection, and also engages a slotted indicating hand 6 pivoted at 6<b>. Resilient rods 25 bear upon the body 5 to steady it, and knobs are provided for resetting the screws without interfering with the clock and speedometer mechanism.
