Abstract
290,379. Sage, F. A. Feb. 19, 1927. Tables convertibla into boxes.-A convertible box and table or tray consists of a polygonal, rectangular, or triangular section box with flat sides hinged together so as to open out and form a flat surface. Fig. 2 shows a rectangularsection box with sides 1, 2 hinged to a side 3, so that when inverted, the parts 1, 2, 3 form a table supported on hinged legs 10. Rule-joints 4, hinges 5, quadrant stays or hinged stays 6, and bars 27 slidable in guides 26, keep the three parts 1, 3, 2 in alignment. Fig. 6 shows a modification comprising three sides 22, 23, 24 and two triangular ends 25, forming, when folded up, a three-sided box useful as a footrest. As shown. the ends 25 are let into grooves 26 on the parts 22, 23, 24, which grooves are adapted to receive alternatively runners 27 for holding the parts 22, 23, 24 in alignment. The legs 28 are screwed into sockets, or may be hinged to the rails 27. 'They may be telescopic.
