Abstract

289,545. Backer, C. B. Jan. 28, 1927. Electric hot-plates.-A resistance element is secured in place in a hot-plate &c. by arranging it in a cup or dish-like sheet metal member which is to form part of the outer surface of the metal body and casting metal round it. The element may be of the construction described in Specification 173,742*, [Class 36, Electricity, Conducting &c.], and furnished with terminals as described in Specification 286,008, [Class 38 (i), Electric Couplings &c.]. A hot plate comprises two separate concentric portions 20, 21 cast in sheet metal dish-like members 25, 26 about elements 23, 24. Metal chairs 28 may be secured in the member 26 to support the resistance element during casting, the element 23 being supported on a sheet metal spider 23<a>. Lugs 22 on the portion 21 support the portion 20, and the whole is carried on a spider 31 secured to the portion 21 by a stud 30 cast therein.
