Abstract

286,183. Sheppee Motor Co., Ltd., and Jowitt, S. G. Oct. 28, 1927. Driving-gear.-Relates to laundry machines in which an electric or other high speed motor drives a low speed shaft by a belt or rope pulley, and consists in coupling the pulley to the shaft by a friction clutch. To the low speed shaft 1 is secured a boss having a flange 2 and an extension provided with an adjusting nut 6. A member 5 is slidable on a feather to rotate with the boss, and is pressed towards the flange 2 by springs 8. The grooved pulley 4 is bored to receive friction blocks 10. The clutch is adjusted to yield at any desired load by adjustment of the nut 6 a screw 9 securing this in adjusted position.
