Abstract

285,009. General Electric Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Patent-Treuhand-Ges. f³r Elek. trische Gl³hlampen). Feb. 8, 1927, [Convention date]. Caps are provided with a heat-resisting coating which protects them from oxidation. It may be applied before the caps are cemented to the bulbs, and in this case the caps may be raised to a higher temperature during the cement-baking operation, thereby shortening the time required. The coating may consist of any inorganic substance capable of withstanding a temperature of 220‹ C., e.g. water glass, or borax and sodiumammonium phosphate. To facilitate soldering the leading-in wires to the coated caps, rotating steel brushes, grinding-discs, or brushes soalced with etching-liquids, may be arranged in the machine to clear the soldering points. Ammonium bifluoride may be used for this purpose. The etching material may be incorporated, alone or mixed with a flux, in soldering-wire.
