Abstract
284,940. Gasparini, G. July 21, 1927. Rotary cylinders and the like utilizing magnus effect.-Rudders and fins utilizing the magnus effect for steering and manoeuvring ships and submarines comprise a non - solid revoluble body. For ships, the rudder comprises a cylindrical body 3 mounted on a shaft 4 with a foot bearing 5 and upper guide 6 and adapted to be driven by a motor 8 through a transmission arrangement 7. More than one revoluble body may be employed and couples may be utilized for balancing. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 249,730.
