Abstract

283,789. Fairbrother, H., (Floorola Corporation). June 14, 1927. Floors, cleaning.-The shafts 25 of detachable brushes 30 are rotatably mounted in bearings in a spider 22 secured to a driven shaft 15, and are rotated through the medium of gear wheels 26 meshing with an internal gear 31 on the casing 11 of the machine. The shaft 15 is rotated through gearing by an electric motor 21. A guard plate 34 is secured to the shaft 15 and cooperates with a lip 36 on the casing 11 to prevent the entrance of dirt, &c. to the space containing the gear wheels. The handle 37, which is bifurcated and pivotally mounted, is held in a vertical position by means of a latch 38 engaging a lug 39, and can be lowered upon release of the latch until a shoulder 40 engages beneath the lug 39.
