Abstract
283,571. Glaser, (nee Plettl), C. Jan. 14, 1927, [Convention date]. Printing on celluloid and like materials.-Relates to the production of indelible designs or pictures on celluloid or like plastic material. A sheet of celluloid is provisionally attached to a support of grained glass or metal by means of a solvent, such as alcohol or acetone, and by pressing with rollers. The celluloid is then coated with a mixture of acetone and acetic ether, and a transfer sheet of gummed paper, on which the drawing or picture is printed or painted, is placed on the surface and attached thereto by rolling. The transfer sheet is then moistened with water, to dissolve the gum, and the paper is removed, so that the picture remains on the celluloid. The picture is covered with a second sheet of celluloid, attached by means of a solvent. or any other transparent protecting medium may be used. The celluloid finally becomes detached from the glass or metal support. Specification 204,300 is referred to.
