Abstract
282,198. Eveleigh, E. F. Nov. 11, 1926. Two-stroke-cycle engines.-The front end of the cylinder is used to compress mixture, which is admitted with lubricating oil through a disc valve F<1>, driven by a pin W on the engine fly wheel or on a disc F fast on the crank shaft. The connecting rod passes through a ball-and-socket joint C<1>, the socket being carried by a sliding tube which covers the slot D made in the crank case top. A ported sleeve 13 carried by the piston controls the transfer ports B<4> and exhaust ports R<3>. The sleeve may have the usual packing rings or be surrounded by a second split sleeve B2; it may be attached to the piston by a bayonet joint or by bolting. The piston has a deflecting top to direct the gases to the head of the cylinder.
