Abstract
281,897. Petroff, G., and Alexeeff. N. Feb. 1, 1927. Moistening rovings in spinning-machines. The following substances are addition to those mentioned in Specification 251,590 as suitable for use in the wet spinning of flax, hemp, and other textile fibres enabling the process to be worked at a considerable lower temperature than usual and even without heat. The substances are free sulphonic acids of aromatic compounds with and without hydrocarbon side chains, sulphonic acids of hydrogenated aromatic hydrocarbons or their derivatives, naphtha-sulphonic acids, fattyaromatic sulphonic acids, or sulphonic acids which are obtained by sulphonating aromatic, hydro-aromatic or naphtha-hydrocarbons in the presence of some alcohols such as for example propyl, butyl, iso-propyl alcohol or the like, as well as salts of all of the above acids, not mentioned in Specification 251,590. Sulphonated distillates of hydrocarbon, naphtha, or shale tars, or a crude mixture of the sulphonated hydrocarbons or their derivatives, sulphonated glycerides, or sulphonated fatty acids may be used and also emulsions solutions, or mixtures of the abovementioned acids, salts, or the like with terpenes, aromatic or hydroaromatic hydrocarbons or their derivatives such as phenols or cresols, with fatty acids such as acetic or formic acid, or with alcohols soluble in water.
