Abstract

280,745. Harding, F. W. Jan. 25, 1927. Treadle mechanism.-Treadle levers A pivoted on each side of the cycle on the rear axle B are extended rearwardly beyond their pivots and are each connected by a chain C to a freewheel sprocket D on a spindle 0 mounted towards the upper part of the frame. The spindle carries a toothed wheel F driving the cycle wheel by a chain G. The chains C are connected by links N and adjustable devices P to points spaced equally in front of and behind the axle B. The two treadle levers A are raised and lowered alternately by connecting them to opposite sides of an endless chain I running over sprockets L, M on the frame.
