Sound magnifying and directing appliances. - An amplifier of the kind comprising a series of annular passages surrounding one another formed, f o r example, by the engagement of two oppositelydirected members I, K, Fig. 3, is provided with radially-arranged longitudinal partitions T, Fig. 4, which extend from the centre to the periphery thus dividing the sound passage into isolated segments. The edges of the partitions where they are struck by the sound waves are of reduced width or of stream-line form. The separate segrments of the structure may be individually detachable.
