Abstract

279,723. Ernst, K., and Schaeffer- Pischon Ges. May 5, 1927. Stoppers with valves.-In closures for preserve tins &c. provided with a valve, the valve comprises a resilient ring 15 secured at its periphery in a trough-shaped depression 26 in the lid of the tin by a plate 21 formed with a convex centre adapted to allow freedom of movement to the centre of the ring 15. A cap 17, shaped to fit beneath the depression 26 is formed with a raised conical portion 18 which projects through a wide opening in the depression, and has a smooth surface adapted to make good contact with the ring 15. Projecting from the conical portion 18 is an upstanding centre 19, 20 the upper part 20 of which is upset to secure together the parts of the valve. The upset part being outside the valve, no separate packing is required.
