Electromagnets. - An electromagnet for polyphase current is provided with coils for the different phases either arranged in the same plane or in parallel planes, some of the coils being connected in a reversed direction compared with the others, so that the total effective phase difference is less than 180‹. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 2, the core a is formed with three concentric grooves b, c, d in which are wound the coils e, f, g, connected to a triphase current supply and to the neutral point h, as shown in Fig. 3. A form having a cylindrical core with a number of parallel coils is also described.
