Switches, partly electromagnetic. - Separate contactors in electric motor control systems are actuated by solenoids subject to a master controller and also bv cams on a shaft coupled to or moving with the master controller, the cam actuation being practically simultaneous with the solenoid actuation. As shown in Fig. 2, a contactor 11 working on a pivot 13 is linked to the attracted armature 15 of a solenoid 7. One of the cams 8 on the shaft 10 is arranged to act on a roller 18 which lifts the armature and thus closes the contactor practically at the same instant whether or not the solenoid is effective. A knock-off projection 19 is disposed on the shaft in a position to retract the armature forcibly when the off-position of the shaft is reached.
