Machine guns.-A cover for the ejection opening of an automatic gun is adapted to be opened by the forward movement of the breech-block at the commencement of firing. As shown, the sliding cover 1 carries a spring pawl 10 adapted to be engaged by the retracted breech-block 6 so that the cover is operated when the block goes forward to load and fire the gun. The cover is held in the open position by the pawl 10 engaging a notch 7 in the casing.
