271,598. Paget, F., and Horseman, S. H. March 20, 1926. Folding mangles and wringers.-In those machines in which the folding and raising actions are controlled by the usual hand wheel, the gearing for effecting these movements comprises a mutilated pinion 2 loose on the turnover shaft 3 and gearing with the pinion 4 on the bottom roller shaft 4a. The pinion is provided with a cam projection 6 to limit its movement in the direction a, and when the mangle has been lowered and it is desired to place the table top in position the pinion can be swung counterclockwise until the toothed portion is wholly within the frame. In a modification the cam 6 is replaced by a pin working in a slot in the frame. An alternative arrangement comprises a sprocket wheel 12 fast on the turnover axis and chain geared to the lower roller shaft, with a clutch actuated by the cam surface of a plate 13.
