Folding wringers.-The mutilated pinion c around which the gear wheel of the lower roller is rotated by the handwheel for lowering and raising the folding frame b is rotatably mounted on the turnover shaft d and is rotated into initial engagement with the gear wheel j by the manipulation of a lever f. This lever is slidably pivoted about the boss of the pinion c, which also carries lugs c<1>, c<2> which work in a slot in the lever. The rear end of the lever releases a catch h which holds the machine in normal working position. Movement of the pinion during the raising and lowering of the frame is prevented by the engagement of a lug c<4> on the pinion with a stop a<1> on the stationary frame and by a pin a<2> on the stationary frame working in a slot f<2> in the lever.
