Abstract

271,477. Patentaktiebolaget Centralsmorjning, (Assignees of Clausen. C. H.). May 19, 1926, [Convention date]. Multiple-acting piston pump; valves, arrangement of.-In forced lubrication apparatus a valve member arranged in a central position relatively to the pumps which it serves is subjected to a reciprocating motion which is transmitted to the pumps and an oscillatory motion so as to be able to act as a valve. The main casing 1 is bored to accommodate the valve 2 which at its upper projecting end carries a disc 10 which serves as a carrier to impart a reciprocating motion to the pump piston 3 disposed around the valve and provided with adjustable external flanges 11 which co-operate with the disc 10. The mechanism for imparting the required motion to the valve comprises a ballshaped crank pin 7 carried by a shaft 4 and engaging in a recess in the lower end of the valve, the recess being about the same width as the crank pin but considerably longer so that the oscillatory motion is continuous but the reciprocating motion is limited to cerain angles of the crank pin. The common oil inlet 13 for all the pumps communicates with the chamber 14 in the top of the valve piston and this chamber is in communication with suction channels 16 which at certain angular dispositions of the piston register with ducts 20 these dispositions coinciding with the suction strokes of the pump. During the pressure strokes of the respective pumps the ducts 20 are put into communication with their separate discharge socket 15 by way of the grooves 22 cut in the valve body, the angular disposition of the valve being timed to secure the alignment of the groove.
