Abstract

Disinfectants, deodorants, and fumigants. - A volatile solid disinfectant, deodorant or insecticide is made up in the form of a thin flat leaf by dipping a core 1 of perforated paper, textile material or metal, or of wire gauze, into the molten disinfectant so that the latter forms a coating 2 on the paper and fills the perforations 3 so as to form connections 4 between the coating layers on the two surfaces of the core. The dipping is repeated until a sufficient thickness of the disinfectant &c. is obtained. The core may be used in the form of separate sheets of the size required, or may be coated in the form of a continuous ribbon and then cut up. In a modification, the core is not perforated but is formed with recesses, cells, or grooves which become filled with the coating material. The leaves may be laid in clothes, books, &c. or may be carried on the person.
