Nails. - A spike, nail &c. made by hot-forging, hotstamping or hotpressing has a solid head d. a shank a of U-shaped - cross section uniform throughout its length and two V-shaped pointed ends b<1> having straight edges except at b<6>, b<7> where the points join the curved part of the shank. In a modification, Fig. 4, the shank is of S- section and the edges b<4>, b<5> of the single point are of spiral form.
