Abstract

Nails; hooks; staples.-Sheet-metal blanks x Fig. 1 which are folded to form nails of the shape shown in Fig. 2 or of other curved or sinuous shape have parallel-sided shanks and sharp points a<4> the length of the shank exceeding twice the length of head and point combined, and the length of the point being less than the width of the blank. The head-part of the blank is widened. When folded as in Fig. 2 the edges a<2> of the V-point are given a helical form a<3>. The nail may have a W-shaped point, Fig. 9, and a bulbous head closed to a point b<5> and stiffened by indentations b<3>. A head may be formed by turning over the ends b<6>, Fig. 17. A hook-headed spike is shown in Fig. 13, the hook c having a channel form. A blank pointed at both ends is folded into S-form and bent to form a staple Specification 192,492 is referred to.
