Driving.-A centrifugal separator is adapted for hand and power operation, two shafts 2, 4 being supported in the frame and connected by gear wheels 3, 5. The lower shaft 4 is the worm shaft and its pinion 5 carries an extending cylindrical part with a groove 7. The gearing is enclosed by a guard 8 secured to the frame by screws and carrying a bearing 10 for the shaft 11 which has a lug 12 to enter the groove 7. The shaft 11 has a loose pulley 12a and a pulley 13 which can be clutched to the shaft by the centrifugal clutch 16, 17. The belt shifting mechanism 14 is carried by the guard 8. When the driving motor is an electric motor the shaft 11 has only one belt pulley and that is provided with a friction coupling.
