Travelling a fixed distance or number of revolutions.-In an arrangement for controlling the motor M of an electrically driven washing or other machine T, which is required to stop first in one given position and afterwards in other positions selected by the operator, a single push-button S brings about the first stop by de-energizing a pilot motor PM and thus terminating the rotation of a control drum D. A group of pushbuttons c<1> - - - c<5> afterwards brings about restarting of the motor and. stoppage in a position corresponding to the selected button, but this result cannot be obtained until the group of buttons has been switched into connection with the control circuit by a relay PR, which action only takes place when the rotation of the control drum D has been terminated in a normal manner.
