Abstract
265,407. Canty, F. J., and Lyon, J. March 16, 1926. Hand devices for filling tubes. - A device for filling grease-guns comprises a tubular member 14 which is charged by plunging into bulk grease, and a spring- pressed piston 13 contained therein which is controlled by a radial pin 17 projecting through a slot 18 in an outer casing 10. Air escape holes 21 are provided to facilitate charging the tube. The mouth 20 of the member 14 is practically equal in diameter to the grease gun 25 to be charged and is inserted therein, when the contained grease is forced into the gun by the action of the piston. The pin 17 can be locked in the position shown in the Figure by partially rotating it in a lateral extension of the slots 18, but is released by an opposite movement when it is desired to discharge the member 14. A slot 22 extending from the open end of the member 14 may be provided to further facilitate the escape of air on charging. A slidablymounted flanged member 24 may be fitted to facilitate clearing surface grease from the inside of the tube 14, but if only desired as an abutment for the grease gun 25 the flange 24 may be fixed.
