Abstract
263,951. Amory, W. N., Schley, K. B., and Jacob, L. Oct. 9, 1925. Pneumatic springs used instead of or in addition to the usual steel springs of a vehicle are made with walls 11, 12 having sufficient stiffness to carry the normal weight of the vehicle without any internal pressure, a small additional supporting force being, however, provided by inflating the cushions slightly. The cushion may be of annular form or may be made with a gap 13 to facilitate assembly. The vertical walls 11, 12 may be reinforced with layers of fabric. The cushions are arranged between upper and lower plates 14, 15 with a centreing pin 16.
