Abstract

263,165. Naamlooze Vennootschap Silica en Ovenbouw Maatschappij, (Assignees of Otto & Co., Ges., Dr. C.). Dec. 16, 1925, [Convention date]. Valves. reversing. - A distributing valve for gas-heated regenerative, furnaces or opens comprises a valve box a communicating with an air regenerator through channels n and through valves c, d, o with a waste heat flue m, a second valve box b, and the atmosphere respectively. The valve c is provided with guides c<1>, and when a rod e is lifted both valves c, d are raised by collars f, g on the rod. while the upper valve d may be lifted independently of the valve c by a sleeve h fixed to the valve disc and passing through a stuffing box i; this sleeve may be retained in its upper position by a pawl k. The upper valve box b communicates with a channel p leading to the gas regenerator and having a branch p<1> for the supply of lean gas. As applied to a coke oven heated by lean gas the branch pipe p<1> and the valve o are opened and the valves c, d closed; lean gas flows from the pipe p<1> through the channel p to the gas regenerator and air enters at a<4> and passes through the conduits n to the air regenerators. On reversal the branch pipe p<1> and the valve o are closed and the valves c, d opened, when the waste gases leaving the regenerators will pass from the channels p, n to the waste gas flue m. When heating by rich gas the branch pipe p' is closed, the flap valve o opened, and the upper valve d lifted by the sleeve h so that air entering at a<4> passes into both channels p, n and to both regenerators; after reversal the conditions are the same as when heating by lean gas. To ensure uniform distribution of the air between the channels p and n the opening a<4> is provided with a deflecting plate q.
