Abstract
262,102. Knorr Bremse Akt.-Ges. Nov. 27, 1925, [Convention date]. Combined buffer and drawgear.-In order to convert a railway vehicle having side buffers to one having central buffers without strengthening the underframe, a tubular member i is arranged longitudinally in the centre of the vehicle with a support h at each end adapted to engage the rear spring plate e of the draw and buffer springs d, so that buffing shocks are transmitted to both springs and the central longitudinal girders f are consequently subjected to tensional stresses only. Each end h is bifurcated and supports the rear spring plate e, and the front spring plate c abuts a stop g. In buffing, one spring d is compressed against the end of the tubular member i which moves longitudinally and compresses the other spring d against the end stops g so that the longitudinal members f are placed in tension.
