Abstract
261,926. Carey, H. D. de M. Dec. 11, 1925. Transferring articles to and from trains and other conveyances in motion.-A wagon a carries two or more removable containers e which can be loaded on and unloaded from the wagon whilst in motion. The containers are of less width than the wagon and may be arranged side by side. The wheels of the containers normally rest on fixed seats f on the wagon and also on seats m on rising brackets n. As the wagon approaches a platform p, the brackets n are raised by cams s so that the wheels of the containers engage rails r extending from the platform, the wagon running on beneath. For loading, the containers on the platform are brought into correct position over a wagon and are propelled with the wagon until picked up by the latter. By suitably regulating the speeds of propulsion, the containers may be loaded on to trains of coupled wagons, including wagons of different lengths.
