Abstract
261,724. Hochstadter, M. Nov. 21, 1925, [Convention date]. Paper with thick and thin parts. - Insulating tape of paper or similar thin close and continuous material is bevelled or stepped down at the edges before application and is wrapped so as to overlap at the edges without local increase in thickness thereby avoiding or minimizing joints in the direction of the electric field. In one example shown in Fig. 1, the edges b of adjacent tapes a are scarfed and overlap. Fig. 3 shows another example in which the tapes a are formed by super. posing two thinner tapes n, o so as to produce a stepped edge h, i, k, l. The construction shown in Fig. 4 comprises two interlinked superposed layers a<1>, a<2> of tapes which have similar and symmetrical edges p, r, s, t, u, v, w. The adjacent edges of the tapes may be united by a suitable adhesive such as synthetic resin.
