Abstract

260,771. Sutcliffe, T. Oct. 30, 1925. Capsules and like closures; detachable stoppers secured by clamping devices. - A closure for jars &c. comprises a cap having in one half of its periphery a depending flange, the edge 8 of which is underturned to be substantially in a plane parallel to the top of the cap, and on the other half a depending tongue 20 having above its lower edge an inturned hump 19 which frictionally engages the flange of the jaw. As shown, the depending edge extends for more than half the periphery, diametrically opposite slits 22 being cut in it to cause an imaginary line joining them to act as a. hinge when the cap is being removed from the jar.
