Abstract

260,248. Buchli, J. Oct. 26, 1925, [Convention date]. Locomotives, internal-combustion engines, are driven by an engine having a number of horizontal cylinders arranged in pairs 2, 2<1>, 3, 3<1> - -, the engine being symmetrical about the central longitudinal vertical plane of the locomotive and the axes of each cylinder pair being in alignment. The engine drives the wheels through a clutch 11, gear 12, shaft 14 and gearing contained in casings 15. Each cylinder pair forms a unit and any number may be employed to obtain the desired power output.
